Why is HEALTH a concern of
the CHURCH?
The Church has always been a place of healing. Jesus' ministry dealt with health in the
fullest sense when he healed the body, mind, and spirit. While our spiritual health is of
utmost importance, God also asks us to live full, healthy, balanced lives of faithful
service. If we are to use the gifts God has given us, we must honor and nurture all that
we are -- body, mind, and spirit. Even scientific research confirms that faith plays
an important role in health. Our spiritual, physical, and mental dimensions are all
wondrously interconnected. Recognizing this, the Church seeks to address the whole person.
"I will restore you to health and heal your wounds." declares the Lord.
Jeremiah
30:17
Christ Himself bore our sins in his body on the tree...by His wounds you have been
healed.
1 Peter 2:24
