Portrayed in the Sanctuary Windows The windows in the sanctuary of Lutheran Church of the Incarnation are a glorious and inspirational statement of faith of those who gather here. These faceted glass art windows, conceptualizing biblical themes, consist of ten windows on the west wall of the nave that depict Old Testament doctrine such as the creation and fall of man, and a matching set of ten on the east wall that relate to the ministry of Christ and the Crucifixion and Resurrection. By careful study of these beautiful and finely crafted windows, members and visitors can behold God's plan for His people and their ultimate salvation. You are encouraged to study each window, find the key elements and absorb the "Spiritual Gifts" that God has given us through His Creation and His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. May the light as it is refracted through the glass symbols touch your heart and mind, and may your light shine forth for all to see in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ History The windows had their conception in January 1981 when our late beloved senior pastor, the Reverend Earl Lusk, consulted with John Reumann of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia about the possibility of using themes from the "Word and Witness Bible Study" materials. "Word and Witness" was a popular biblical study directed by Dr. Richard Olson of the LCA Division for Parish Services. Our congregation participated in "Word and Witness" in the mid-1980's. The Judson Studios of Los Angeles were consulted and ultimately contracted to do the windows. The Judson Studios was founded by William Lees Judson in 1897, who served as founding Dean of the art school at USC. Along with his four sons, he developed the studios into the foremost group of designers and craftsmen of stained and faceted glass and mosaic art that exists today. The windows in our sanctuary are faceted glass, which is one inch thick and embedded in epoxy. Dedication The descriptive text and window images on these pages was prepared under the guidance of the Communications Committee of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation and made possible by a memorial gift from Tom and Sarah Weber. We dedicate these pages to Sarah, whose love for beauty was a hallmark of her life and to the Glory of God. Acknowledgments:
